Tyler Nash: Owner, Instructor
For over 15 years, Tyler Nash has dedicated his career to teaching and coaching. That same passion for guiding young people has carried into his role as a driving instructor at 816 Driving School. For Nash, teaching is never just about the basics—it’s about understanding each student’s individual journey and helping them overcome challenges with patience and encouragement.
He firmly believes that a driving instructor’s role goes beyond teaching stops and turns; it’s about preparing students to navigate real-world situations with confidence and care. Learning to drive can be daunting for many teenagers, but Nash creates a calm, supportive environment where students learn not only the fundamentals of safe driving but also the mindset to approach the road—and life—with resilience.
“When I work with a student, I think about their parents,” Nash says. “They’re trusting me to help prepare their son or daughter for an unpredictable world. As a father, I know that responsibility personally, and I treat every student with the same care I want for my own child. For me, this is not just driving lessons—it’s about protecting kids, preparing them, and giving parents peace of mind.”
One of Nash’s favorite parts of the job is the relationships that form during lessons. Hours spent in the car become opportunities for meaningful conversations, where students often share personal fears and struggles—especially about driving. Nash encourages them to see challenges not as obstacles, but as chances to build confidence and discover strength.
“I never expected teaching driving to be so rewarding,” he reflects. “Every instructor has the chance to impact a young life in a positive way. Helping students realize they can conquer something as big as driving is a privilege, and I take that responsibility to heart.”
Through his steady guidance, patience, and heart for kids, Tyler Nash equips the next generation not just to drive safely—but to thrive.
Lawrence Young: Instructor
Instructor Young is a proud husband and father of six. When he’s not shuttling kids to school, practices, and activities, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family camping, hiking, kayaking, and playing what he jokingly calls “old-man tennis,” better known as pickleball.
With nearly 30 years of experience working with students—and 20 years in public education—Coach Young has dedicated his career to education. He taught in the classroom for 16 years before moving into physical education, where he continues to inspire and motivate students. Over the years, he has earned certifications in Elementary Education, Educational Administration & Leadership, Physical Education & Health (K–12), and Driver Education (Grades 9–12).
“As a parent of teenagers, I understand the importance of teaching young drivers to make safe, thoughtful, and responsible choices—both on the road and in life. Driving is more than a skill; it’s an opportunity to learn confidence, consistency, and courtesy. I’m excited to partner with your family to help your teen become not only a capable driver but also a conscientious one.”
Nick Kemerling: Instructor
With over 27 years in education, Instructor Kemerling brings a wealth of experience to the classroom—most of it spent as a high school teacher and basketball coach. He also served in leadership roles as a building principal and district superintendent, giving him a broad perspective on student development and safety.
For more than 20 years, Instructor Nick has taught Driver Education in the Savannah and St. Joseph area, helping young drivers build the skills and confidence they need to be safe and responsible behind the wheel. As a parent of three daughters who are all of driving age, he understand firsthand the importance of preparing teens for the road ahead—not just with technical skills, but with good judgment and awareness.
His goal is to make driver education practical, engaging, and meaningful—so every student leaves with the tools to drive safely for life.
“Every time I teach a student to drive, I’m not just sharing skills—I’m helping them gain confidence and independence, knowing they’ll carry those lessons safely throughout their lives.”
